Dual function of the transcription factor Ftz‐f1 on oviposition in the cockroach Blattella germanica

Ftz‐f1 has two expression peaks in the ovaries of Blattella germanica, which carry out different functions, as revealed by RNAi experiments. In the adult ovaries, Ftz‐f1 maintains the cell cycle and the levels of endoreplication in the follicular cells, promoting ecdysone production at the end of the gonadotrophic cycle.
