Ultra‐Compact Low‐Loss 3D Glass Waveguide Chip Using Femtosecond Laser Writing Technique

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
An ultra‐compact, low‐loss fan‐in/fan‐out device for 4‐core fiber is demonstrated using femtosecond laser direct writing. Multi‐scan and overwriting methods are employed to produce low‐loss waveguides. A trench‐assisted offset‐assisted cosine‐shaped model is proposed to reduce bending loss.

Structure–Reactivity Relationship of β‐O‐4 Linkers in Lignin Model Compound Catalytic Pyrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Acid‐catalyzed pyrolysis of lignin model dimers reveals that retro‐ene and Maccoll elimination pathways compete with dehydration reactions, depending on the substituent at the β‐O‐4 linkage. We unveil these reaction mechanisms utilizing photoionization mass spectrometry with VUV synchrotron radiation.
