UV-A and UV-C light induced hydrophilization of dental implants

Dental Materials, 2015
Wettability is increasingly considered to be an important factor determining biological responses to implant materials. In this context, the purpose of this study was to compare the dynamic wettability of dental implants made from different bulk materials and modified by different surface modifications, and to analyze the respective changes of ...

Bactericidal behaviour of Ti6Al4V surfaces after exposure to UV-C light

Biomaterials, 2010
TiO(2)-coated biomaterials that have been excited with UV irradiation have demonstrated biocidal properties in environmental applications, including drinking water decontamination. However, this procedure has not been successfully applied towards the killing of pathogens on medical titanium-based implants, mainly because of practical concerns related ...

UV-C light-enhanced photo-Fenton oxidation of methyl parathion

Environmental Chemistry Letters, 2008
The photodegradation of aqueous solutions containing 0.2 mM methyl parathion has been studied through the optimization of the [H2O2]/[Fe3+] ratio in a Fe3+/H2O2/UV-C flow system of 1.3 L capacity. The decay kinetics and TOC abatement have been analyzed for the experiments performed at pH 3.0 and room temperature.

Effect of ultraviolet-C light on postharvest decay of strawberry

2000
The effect of ultraviolet-C light (u.v.-C) at low doses on postharvest decay of strawberries caused by Botrytis cinerea and other pathogens was investigated. Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) activity and ethylene production, as influenced by ultraviolet-C irradiation, were also determined. Strawberries (cv.
