Neodymium‐142 deficits and samarium neutron stratigraphy of C‐type asteroid (162173) Ryugu

open access: yesMeteoritics & Planetary Science, 2023
AbstractWe report Nd and Sm isotopic compositions of four samples of Ryugu returned by the Hayabusa2 mission, including “A” (first touchdown) and “C” (second touchdown) samples, and several carbonaceous chondrites to evaluate potential genetic relationships between Ryugu and known chondrite groups and track the cosmic ray exposure history of Ryugu.

Thermography of Asteroid and Future Applications in Space Missions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The Near-Earth Asteroid 162173 Ryugu is a C-type asteroid which preserves information about the ancient Solar System and is considered enriched in volatiles such as water and organics associated with the building blocks of life, and it is a potentially ...

The Oxygen Isotopic Composition of Samples Returned from Asteroid Ryugu with Implications for the Nature of the Parent Planetesimal

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal, 2023
We present oxygen isotopic analyses of fragments of the near-Earth C _b -type asteroid Ryugu returned by the Hayabusa2 spacecraft that reinforce the close correspondence between Ryugu and CI chondrites.

A curation for uncontaminated Hayabusa2-returned samples in the extraterrestrial curation center of JAXA: from the beginning to present day

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2023
Developing a cleanroom and clean chambers (CCs) for Hayabusa2 returned samples has been discussed with the committee for Hayabusa2 sample curation facility since 2015.

Review of meteorite irradiation tests to support next C-type asteroid missions

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2022
ABSTRACT Effect of space weathering of airless asteroids could be better understood by artificial irradiation tests on meteorites in laboratories. This work surveys the infrared and Raman analysis based interpretation of simulated charged particle irradiation tests in order to better understand near-future observational possibilities of ...

The GAs Extraction and Analyses system (GAEA) for immediate extraction and measurements of volatiles in the Hayabusa2 sample container

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2022
Hayabusa2 returned surface samples from the C-type near-Earth asteroid (162173) Ryugu to Woomera, South Australia, in December 2020. The samples returned from Ryugu are expected to contain not only volatile components reflecting its primitive nature, but

Ryugu: A brand-new planetary sample returned from a C-type asteroid

open access: yes, 2021
Abstract C-type asteroids are considered to be primitive small Solar-System bodies enriched in water and organics, providing clues for understanding the origin and evolution of the Solar System and the building blocks of life. C-type asteroid 162173 Ryugu has been characterized by remote sensing and on-asteroid measurements with Hayabusa2, but ...

Discovery, Observational Data and the Orbit of the Amor Group Asteroid 2010 BT3

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2012
A project devoted to astrometric and photometric observations of asteroids at the Molėtai Observatory is described. One of its most important results is the discovery of the asteroid 2010 BT3 belonging to the Amor group of the near-Earth objects.
