Hsp90 governs dispersion and drug resistance of fungal biofilms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fungal biofilms are a major cause of human mortality and are recalcitrant to most treatments due to intrinsic drug resistance. These complex communities of multiple cell types form on indwelling medical devices and their eradication often requires ...

The MoSR‐MoDde1 Regulatory Axis: A Novel Determinant of DMI Sensitivity and a Target for Sustainable Rice Blast Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The transcription factor MoSR governs DMI fungicide sensitivity in Magnaporthe oryzae through dual regulation of ergosterol biosynthesis and the detoxification enzyme MoDde1. Targeting MoDde1 via a small‐molecule inhibitor or host‐induced gene silencing enhances DMI efficacy against rice blast, offering a sustainable disease management strategy ...

Histone deacetylase Sir2 promotes the systemic Candida albicans infection by facilitating its immune escape via remodeling the cell wall and maintaining the metabolic activity

open access: yesmBio
Histone deacetylation affects Candida albicans (C. albicans) pathogenicity by modulating virulence factor expression and DNA damage. The histone deacetylase Sir2 is associated with C. albicans plasticity and maintains genome stability to help C. albicans

Candida albicans overgrowth disrupts the gut microbiota in mice bearing oral cancer

open access: yesMycology
Candida albicans is one of the most common opportunistic fungi in cancer patients. This study explored the influence of C. albicans on gut microbiota in oral tumour-bearing mice by means of 16S rRNA sequencing and ITS sequencing.

Conditional antagonism in co-cultures of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans: An intersection of ethanol and phosphate signaling distilled from dual-seq transcriptomics.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2020
Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans are opportunistic pathogens whose interactions involve the secreted products ethanol and phenazines. Here, we describe the role of ethanol in mixed-species co-cultures by dual-seq analyses. P. aeruginosa and C.

Effect of Xylitol on Candida albicans resistance in serum (in vitro study)

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry Indonesia, 2013
Xylitol is reported to inhibit the growth of C. albicans. Objectives: Investigating serum factor role in inhibiting the growth of C. albicans and the effect of 1%, 5%, 10% xylitol on C. albicans resistance in serum in vitro. Methods: Identification of C.

Effect of Antibiotics and Anti-cancer Drugs on Gastrointestinal Infections and Dissemination by C. albicans in Mice Inoculated Orally with C. albicans

open access: yesJournal of the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, 1989
The authors studied the effect of antibiotics, hydrocortisone and anti-cancer drugs on gastrointestinal infections and dissemination by C. albicans in mice inoculated orally with C. albicans. The mice were given orally, vancomycin, amikacin and polymyxin B, and they also were injected with ampicillin and gentamicin.
