Strip loading in reinforced concrete: Mechanical modeling and experimental validation
Abstract Strip loading of reinforced concrete is a common problem in engineering practice. The concrete compressive strength at the load introduction can be several times higher than the uniaxial concrete compressive strength, which can be attributed to geometrical and passive confining stresses caused by load dispersion and reinforcement, respectively.

The new 1D Cu(I) coordination polymer BAM‐5 shows outstanding thermal stability and strong humidity‐dependent proton conductivity. Its proton transport is enabled by uncoordinated acidic groups and a well‐developed hydrogen‐bonded network that supports both hopping and vehicular mechanisms.

Abstract Aims To describe differences in the expression of genes encoding cannabinoid receptors (CNR1, CNR2), the associated receptor GRP55 and the enzymes fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase (MGLL) between individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and controls in key mesocorticolimbic brain regions.

Balancing bossism: State expansion in the face of elite capture
Abstract Central states have often relied on local elites to implement policies in peripheral areas. These strategies may allow otherwise weak states to impose their directives, but they can also be inefficient, particularly when a single elite commands total control over local politics (monopolist capture).
