Relative Energetics of C44 Fullerene Isomers

open access: closed, 1992
We have carried out an exhaustive search of the energetics of all 87 isomers of the fullerene C44 using an empirical potential function. We find no single structural isomer with exceptional stability, suggesting that the enhanced abundance of this cluster observed in some studies may be due to a mixture of different molecules.

Stereoselective synthesis of the C33–C44 fragment of palau’amide

open access: closedTetrahedron Letters, 2008
Abstract An efficient stereoselective synthesis of the C33–C44 fragment of palau’amide is described using a Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation, a regioselective nucleophilic ring opening of the epoxide, a Grignard reaction and a Luche stereoselective reduction of a keto compound as the key steps.

Anomalous temperature behaviour of the shear elastic constant C44 in tantalum

open access: closedSolid State Communications, 1980
Abstract The adiabatic elastic constants of a pure vanadium single crystal have been measured between 300 and 2100 K in a suitable geometry by means of an ultrasonic method. We find that the shear constant C44 has an anomalous temperature behaviour very similar to that found in niobium.

Synthesis of14C-labeled FAD-C44

Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 2000
Synthesis of 14 C -labeled FAD-C44 1 al the tertiary carbon by the dimerization of 14 C labeled erucic acid 2 is described. Labeling at the C-14 position of erucic acid is achieved hy a convergent approach involving the Wittig coupling of 14 C-labeled nonyl aldehyde 4 and the Wittig reagent 3.

Synthesis of deuterium labeled FAD-C44

Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 1999
A concise synthetic methodology for selective deuterium labeling at the tertiary centers of the fatty acid dimer, FAD-C44 1 is described. Labeling methodology involves three steps and the deuterium is introduced at the tertiary carbons selectively by bromination of FAD-C44 followed by reduction with NaCNB2H3 and SnCl2.

Synthetic Strategy toward the C44–C65 Fragment of Mirabalin

Organic Letters, 2014
A convergent and flexible stereoselective synthesis of one isomer of the C44-C65 fragment of mirabalin is described. The key steps include organocatalytic aldolization, ruthenium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation, amide formation, Marshall stereoselective allenylation, and the Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction.
