Renal dysfunction after coronary artery bypass grafting is common and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. A number of strategies with potential renoprotective effects have been investigated, but no single one has been found to warrant routine use in CABG except fenoldopam in which the data to date appear promising. Other measures such

Innovative surgical strategies: Minimally invasive CABG and off-pump CABG
Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2004Minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) have made up a significant facet of the recent attempts of surgical myocardial revascularization to evolve. Driven by an effort to limit the deleterious effects of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), along with a response to both the growing ...

Women's descriptions of the coronary artery bypass surgery recovery experience were elicited for development of a preparatory discharge information intervention. In a convenience sample, 20 women (mean age= 67 years) were interviewed about the physical sensations, emotions, and concerns they experienced after CABG at three measurement points ...

Development and application of minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) has widely expanded over the last two decades. Although the adoption of MICS techniques has been predominantly applied to valvular heart and single vessel coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, the last decade has also witnessed a widespread use of minimally invasive ...

[Comparative study of CABG following PTCA and PTCA following CABG].
Nihon Geka Gakkai zasshi, 1993Forty-five cases of PTCA with prior CABG and 14 cases of CABG with prior PTCA were studied on their pathogenesis and results. Ninety-four PTCA procedures were performed electively after CABG on 45 patients and 145 lesions. Lesion success rates were 95.8% in stenosis and 55.6% in occluded vessel. The mortality was none and no emergent surgery was needed.

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is relatively safe procedure with estimated mortality rate ranging 1 % through 5 %. Early and late results of CABG are determined by performance of bypass grafts and progression rate in the native coronary arteries.
