Thermal Analysis of Forced Cooled Cables
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1971This paper presents a method for the heat transfer analysis of a circulating oil cooled cable system with emphasis on evaluation of the heat transfer mechanism between the circulating oil and the cable components. Based on a review of the iiterature the conclusion was that there is a lack of available test data which can be directly applied to this ...

Forces in a Cable-Restrained Balloon System
1970This report presents a complete analysis of the forces acting on a cable-restrained balloon launch system and describes computer programs that may be used to determine optimum system configurations. The computer programs are applicable to either Stonehenge or vehicle launch systems.

Heat transfer in forced cooled cables
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1990A calculation method is presented for continuous rating of cable lines. The method takes into account the actual environment conditions, such as different types of soil, change of geometrical disposition, etc. This method is based on the resolution in terms of limit differences.

Identification of the tension force in cables with insulators
Meccanica, 2019The present paper explores two approaches which, based on the measurement of the two first natural frequencies, allow the identification of the tension force in cables with insulators. For this purpose, the nonlinear mathematical model of the mechanical system and its Finite Element discretization are firstly stated.

Tension Force Monitoring of Main Cable
2018As a type of critical infrastructure, long-span bridges are usually vital to the local traffic around the world. Structural health monitoring (SHM) techniques have often been applied to assess the conditions of these important structures.

An analysis of the hydrodynamic forces on cables and nets
Applied Ocean Research, 1987Abstract In addition to tangential and transverse resistance, force deflection and maximum lift are characteristic for the hydrodynamic loading of cables and nets. Respective data are derived from model tests. Current cable loading functions are discussed, and a loading concept suitable for cables and nets is proposed.

Dynamic Forces Exerted by Oscillating Cables
Journal of Hydronautics, 1974The manner in which the forces applied by a mooring cable to a floating buoy affect (in a linearized sense) the response of that body to regular waves is examined first by considering the case of a vertical, elastic cable of negligible weight density. Seeming infinities are encountered in the cable-alone solutions in view of neglect to the cable-motion-
