The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...

Measurement method of natural frequencies and tension forces for cables based on elasto-magnetic sensors calibrated by frequencies

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
Vibration-based (VB) method and elasto-magnetic (EM) method are usually used to measure cable forces of cable-supported bridges. For the VB method, it is difficult to accurately identify each order natural frequency of the cable disturbed by random ...

Tension Force Estimation of Cable-Stayed Bridges Based on Computer Vision Without the Need for Direct Measurement of Mechanical Parameters of the Cables

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Commonly, accelerometers are used to determine the tension force in cables through an indirect process; however, it is necessary to know the mechanical parameters of each element, such as mass and length. Typically, obtaining or measuring these parameters is not feasible.

The Lupus Damage Index Revision Program: Results From the Item Generation and Reduction Phases

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A data‐driven and expert/patient consensus‐based project to develop a revised Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC)/American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Damage Index (SDI) is under way supported by SLICC, ACR, and the Lupus Foundation of America. Our objective is to report the item generation and reduction phase results

Hawaii Deep Water Cable (HDWC) Program : cable overloadability study

open access: yes, 1986
The scope of this study is to determine the short term overload capability of Cable No. 116 in the event of the loss of one pole of the dc transmission system. Such a loss would result in the loss of 250 MW of transmitted power. This exceeds the spinning

Accuracy Improvement for CDPRs Based on Direct Cable Length Measurement Sensors

open access: yes, 2021
S.348-359In many applications of cable-driven parallel robots (CDPRs), accuracy is an important requirement. The accuracy of CDPRs with a controller based only on the standard kinematic model is limited because of effects like cable elongation.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
