The Effects of Cationic Valence on Wash Deinking of Newsprint [PDF]
The effects of cationic valence were tested against final pulp brightness in the wash deinking process on newsprint. The electrolytes used were AlCl3,CaCl2 and NaCl.

Enhancing the efficacy of Burkholderia cepacia B23 with calcium chloride and chitosan to control anthracnose of papaya during storage [PDF]
The efficacy of the combination of Burkholderia cepacia B23 with 0.75% chitosan and 3% calcium chloride (CaCl2) as a biocontrol treatment of anthracnose disease of papaya caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, was evaluated during storage.

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Effect of Additives on Mineral Trioxide Aggregate Setting Reaction Product Formation [PDF]
Introduction Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) sets via hydration of calcium silicates to yield calcium silicate hydrates and calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]2). However, a drawback of MTA is its long setting time.

Formation and Rupture of Ca$^{2+}$ Induced Pectin Biopolymer Gels
When calcium salts are added to an aqueous solution of polysaccharide pectin, ionic cross-links form between pectin chains, giving rise to a gel network in dilute solution. In this work, dynamic light scattering (DLS) is employed to study the microscopic

Implications of CaCl2 application to plants in LID facilities [PDF]
Abstract Low impact development (LID) technologies mimic the natural water cycle through the physico-chemical and biological interactions of plants, filter media and soil, and microorganisms, thereby reducing the release of pollutants. In LID facilities, plants carry out photosynthesis, facilitate microbial growth, and uptake pollutants ...

dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Mg\u3csup\u3e2+\u3c/sup\u3e Differentially Regulates Two Modes of Mitochondrial Ca\u3csup\u3e2+\u3c/sup\u3e Uptake in Isolated Cardiac Mitochondria: Implications for Mitochondrial Ca\u3csup\u3e2+\u3c/sup\u3e Sequestration [PDF]
The manner in which mitochondria take up and store Ca2+ remains highly debated. Recent experimental and computational evidence has suggested the presence of at least two modes of Ca2+ uptake and a complex Ca2+ sequestration mechanism in mitochondria. But

Advances in Shock Compression of Mantle Materials and Implications [PDF]
Hugoniots of lower mantle mineral compositions are sensitive to the conditions where they cross phase boundaries including both polymorphic phase transitions and partial to complete melting.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
