An interpretation system for cadastral maps

Proceedings of 13th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 1996
This paper presents a map interpretation system for automatic extraction of high level information (such as parcels and their attributes) from the scanned images of Chinese cadastral maps. Our map interpretation system consists of three main components: text/graphics separation, parcel extraction, and rotated character recognition.

An interpretation system for cadastral maps

Proceedings 10th International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing, 2003
To create a spatial database for some GIS applications, it is a challenge to recognize automatically all the simple and complex map objects on scanned maps. This paper presents a robust map interpretation system developed to process Hungarian land register maps (cadastral maps).

Automatic lettering of cadastral maps

Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR '93), 2002
A system for the automatic placement of names on cadastral maps, using a method which, because of its generality, can be easily applied to other types of maps is presented. The method is based on a robust algorithm that, after having detected character strings on the original paper map, encases them with rectangles, and searches for the most convenient

THE CADASTRAL MAP

Survey Review, 1934
Abstract In the Empire Survey Review for April 1934 (No. 12, pp. 382–4), the Editor has raised the question of the function of the cadastral map. As he remarks, the question is not simple, but it is easier to say what the function of the map is than to decide of what the map should consist in order that it may fulfil its function.

Evaluation method for an automatic map interpretation system for cadastral maps

Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR '93), 2002
A base line system for automatic interpretation of Dutch cadastral maps is discussed. Knowledge of the rules for drawing these maps is incorporated in the system. Also, a method for evaluating this system is presented. This method consists of different parts which subsequently evaluate the vectorization, the performance on finding parcels, and the ...
