AbstractCadastres are concerned with recording certain information about parcels of land. The function of cadastral maps is to describe the boundaries of properties. In some systems, the information on cadastral maps is definitive whilst in others the map is only an indication of what may be found on the ground.

Empire Survey Review, 1934
Abstract In the Empire Survey Review for April 1934 (No. 12, pp. 382–4), the Editor has raised the question of the function of the cadastral map. As he remarks, the question is not simple, but it is easier to say what the function of the map is than to decide of what the map should consist in order that it may fulfil its function.

Automatic lettering of cadastral maps
Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR '93), 2002A system for the automatic placement of names on cadastral maps, using a method which, because of its generality, can be easily applied to other types of maps is presented. The method is based on a robust algorithm that, after having detected character strings on the original paper map, encases them with rectangles, and searches for the most convenient

Rubber-Sheeting Algorithm for Cadastral Maps
Journal of Surveying Engineering, 1995This paper presents a fast and efficient algorithm to homogeneously spread distortions generated by the conversion of paper maps to digital information. These distortions occur at the block borders as a result of junction adjustment, edge matching, and line adjustment.

Digital Aerial Orthobase for Cadastral Mapping
Journal of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, 2011Large scale aerial photographs were acquired for one entire district of Andhra Pradesh in the southern India encompassing approx. 10,000 sq.kms. The voluminous data was processed using digital photogrammetry techniques to generate seamless digital orthoimages as a base map for cadastral mapping applications.
