Automatic lettering of cadastral maps
Proceedings of 2nd International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR '93), 2002A system for the automatic placement of names on cadastral maps, using a method which, because of its generality, can be easily applied to other types of maps is presented. The method is based on a robust algorithm that, after having detected character strings on the original paper map, encases them with rectangles, and searches for the most convenient
