Les limites du cadavre. La tentation de la vivisection humaine, XVIe-XVIIIe siècles

open access: yesHistoire, Médecine et Santé, 2012
The cadaver and its exploration have been seen as limiting access to knowledge ever since the Renaissance. In the early modern period, anatomists and surgeons recurrently pointed out the ways in which the corpse seemed to resist knowledge.

Forces exerted during microneurosurgery: a cadaver study

open access: yesThe international journal of medical robotics + computer assisted surgery : MRCAS, 2014
A prerequisite for the successful design and use of robots in neurosurgery is knowledge of the forces exerted by surgeons during neurosurgical procedures.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Appraisal and Consequences of Cadaver Dissection

open access: yesMedical Education Online, 2006
First exposure to human cadaver dissection has the potential to be an actual stressor which can cause psychological trauma. This study examines the relationship between anatomy students' experience of this potential stressor and various psychological and personal factors.

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Effects of Extended Postmortem Interval on Microbial Communities in Organs of the Human Cadaver

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Human thanatomicrobiota studies have shown that microorganisms inhabit and proliferate externally and internally throughout the body and are the primary mediators of putrefaction after death.

Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Estimation of anthropometrical and inertial body parameters using double integration of residual torques and forces during squat jump [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The inertial (IP) and anthropometrical (AP) parameters of human body are mostly estimated from coefficients issue from cadaver measurements. These parameters could involve errors in the calculation of joint torques during explosive movements. The purpose of this study was to optimize the IP and AP in order to minimize the residual torque and force ...
