Status of Basement Terranes in Orogens: Insights From the Cadomian Domain of the North Armorican Variscides, Western France

open access: yes, 2021
The stable vs mobile behaviour of basement terranes in orogens is discussed about the North Armorican Cadomian‐floored domain (NAD) in the Armorican Variscides, Western France.

Magnetotelluric study of the eastern margin of the Bohemian Massif: relations between the Cadomian, Variscan, and Alpine orogeny

open access: yesInternational Journal of Earth Sciences, 2018
Eastern margin of the Bohemian Massif is a geologically remarkable area, where three different orogenic cycles are meeting—the oldest, Cadomian, building a basement for younger cycles; a younger, Variscan; and the youngest, Alpine, covering the older units. In the past, this area was investigated by gravimetry and seismic methods.

Zircon U-Pb age and geochemical constraints on the origin and tectonic implication of Cadomian (Ediacaran-Early Cambrian) magmatism in SE Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Bitlis-Pütürge Massifs and Derik volcanics that crop out in the Southeast Anatolian Belt are parts of the Cadomian domain in Anatolia where relicts of the oldest continental crust of Turkey are exposed.

Lithotectonic units of the Cabeço de Vide Massif (Ossa-Morena Zone, SW Iberian Massif): a bedrock map to decipher superimposed orogenies

open access: yesJournal of Maps
This study provides a new cartographic framework for a geologically complex region in the SW Iberian Massif (central-east Portugal). We have redefined lithological ensembles and clarified structural relationships between rock types (unconformities and ...

The Brasiliano collage in South America: a review

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology
Analysis of recent geological and geochronological data from the basement of the South American platform indicates that the Brasiliano orogenic collage took place in four distinct pulses: a) Early Cryogenian (ca.

Laurasian Seaway History During the Early Jurassic From Quantitative Mineralogy and Detrital Zircon Dating

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The Laurasian Seaway comprises a N‐S oriented trans‐Pangaean corridor linking Tethys to the Boreal Sea during the Jurassic, and direction of water flow has been the subject of considerable debate. The Llanbedr (Mochras Farm) borehole, Cardigan Bay Basin, Wales, is a uniquely informative record that comprises an expanded deep‐marine silty ...
