Studies in Guatemalan Caelifera: New grasshoppers and monkey grasshoppers (Orthoptera: Caelifera: Acridoidea & Eumastacoidea) and an updated checklist

We describe six species of Acridomorpha, Orthoptera from Guatemala: Paralethus rowelli n. sp., Paralethus cerezoi n. sp., Episactus schusteri n. sp. (Episactidae: Episactinae), Pararhicnoderma eniocanoi n. sp. (Romaleidae: Bactrophorinae), Tela neumanni n. sp. and Leioscapheus faustinoi n. sp. (Acrididae: Proctolabinae).

A new species of Burmecaelidae (Orthoptera: Caelifera) sheds light on the familys possible taxonomic placement.

A new species of the family Burmecaelidae Uchida et al., 2024 is described as Burmecaelinus yungyenwangae sp. nov. based on a well-preserved adult female specimen from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber.

A new genus and four new species of Locustopsidae Handlirsch, 1906 are described from the Crato Formation of northeastern Brazil. Aestuacrida stereofemoris gen. et sp. nov. differs from previous genera of the family by having four branches of CuA + CuPaα.

Two new mite species of Leptus Latreille, 1796 (Acari: Erythraeidae) are described and illustrated based on their larval stages. All mites were collected from grasshopper hosts (Orthoptera: Acrididae) during surveys in the Zagros Mountains of Iran.
