Caiman zoo breeding (Caiman crocodilus fuscus) has been developing with greater force in Colombia since the 90s. It is essential to evaluate the physiological ranges of the species to be able to assess those situations in which their health is threatened.

Evaluation of factors associated with predation on Caiman latirostris nests (Crocodylia: Alligatoridae) in Argentina [PDF]
La predación es una de las mayores causas de pérdida de huevos de cocodrilianos. Estudios previos reportan que los predadores detectan a las presas mediante signos visuales u olfativos, por ejemplo los producidos por el hombre.

Studies on ventilation of Caiman crocodilus (crocodilia: Reptilia) [PDF]
The ventilatory mechanics of freely moving Caiman crocodilus were studied by cinefluorescopy and electromyography. The buccal oscillations serve only to flush the internal nares in olfaction. Ventilations are coincident with abdominal oscillations.

Lead, mercury, and selenium alter physiological functions in wild caimans (Caiman crocodilus)
Environmental contaminants affect ecosystems worldwide and have deleterious effects on biota. Non-essential mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb) concentrations are well documented in some taxa and are described to cause multiple detrimental effects on human and wildlife.
