Endoscopic diagnosis and removal of gastric foreign bodies in a caiman(Caiman crocodilus crocodilus)

open access: yesVeterinary Quarterly, 1985
An 8-year-old caiman (Caiman crocodilus crocodilus) was presented, its history being given as absence of bowel movements and anorexia after ingestion of a rubber toy. Radiologic examination of the abdomen revealed no abnormalities. On gastroscopic examination many radiolucent foreign bodies were detected and removed.

Cross-species microsatellite amplification in South American Caimans (Caiman spp and Paleosuchus palpebrosus)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2006
Microsatellite DNA markers have been used to assess genetic diversity and to study ecological behavioral characteristics in animals. Although these markers are powerful tools, their development is labor intensive and costly.

To What Extent Can Life History Strategies Inform Reptile Conservation Planning? [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Conservation planners must effectively target interventions to reduce the extinction risk of species. If we can use a species' life history strategies to predict their responses to interventions, this offers a promising approach to better understand species extinction risks and conservation potential.
