Regression equations between body and head measurements in the broad-snouted caiman (Caiman latirostris) [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Biologia, 2000
In the present study, regression equations between body and head length measurements for the broad-snouted caiman (Caiman latirostris) are presented. Age and sex are discussed as sources of variation for allometric models. Four body-length, fourteen head-length, and ten ratio variables were taken from wild and captive animals.

Palaeohistology of Macrospondylus bollensis (Crocodylomorpha: Thalattosuchia: Teleosauroidea) from the Posidonienschiefer Formation (Toarcian) of Germany, with insights into life history and ecology

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 308, Issue 2, Page 342-368, February 2025.
Abstract The Posidonienschiefer Formation of southern Germany has yielded an array of incredible fossil vertebrates. One of the best represented clades therein is Teleosauroidea, a successful thalattosuchian crocodylomorph group that dominated the coastlines.

Cranial anatomy of Acynodon adriaticus and extreme durophagous adaptations in Eusuchia (Reptilia: Crocodylomorpha)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 307, Issue 12, Page 3653-3684, December 2024.
Abstract Acynodon adriaticus, a small eusuchian from the Late Cretaceous of Italy, is known for its well‐preserved cranial and postcranial material. Despite its excellent preservation, many details remain hidden due to the physical overlap between the elements and matrix obliteration.

Ontogenetic and interelemental study of appendicular bones of Caiman latirostris Daudin, 1802 sheds light on osteohistological variability in crocodylians

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 285, Issue 4, April 2024.
This in‐depth investigation provides unprecedented insight into the kinds of bone tissues that Caiman latirostris deposits during growth. Microstructural variability is related to differences in the prevailing environment. Abstract The osteohistology of vertebrates provides a reliable source to deduce biological information, particularly regarding ...

Histological and immunohistochemical study of the ovaries and oviducts of the juvenile female of Caiman latirostris (Crocodilia: Alligatoridae)

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2015
The purpose of this study was to examine the ovaries and the oviduct of juvenile females of the broad-snouted caiman, Caiman latirostris (Daudin, 1802), using light microscopy, histochemical and immunocytochemical techniques.
