Abstract The paper looks at Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (CALS) and how it is being used in the USA Department of Defense. It concludes that the most exciting aspects of this technique are the effects it will have on relevant standards plus the impact on the manufacturing world by strengthening the need for CIM in large companies.
