Abstract The first stage zoeas of two box crabs, Calappa japonica Ortmann, 1892 and Calappa gallus (Herbst, 1803), are described and illustrated from laboratory-hatched material. The main morphological characters are compared with those of previously described species within the Calappidae.

A new species of Mursia Desmarest, 1823 (Crustacea: Decapoda: Calappidae) from the Andaman Sea
Zootaxa, 2006An examination of a series of calappid crabs collected from the Andaman Sea and deposited in the Zoological Reference Collection of the Raffles Museum, Singapore, revealed a new species, Mursia xianshengi n. sp. It differs from the closely related M. buwaya Galil & Takeda, 2004, in its larger size, wider carapace, and the anteriorly curved lateral ...

Growth and mortality of Hepatus pudibundus (Crustacea: Calappidae) in south-western Brazil
Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2007The predatory action of the pink shrimp (Farfantepenaeus brasiliensis and Farfantepenaeus paulensis) trawling fishery in south-western Brazil affects populations of some benthic species and Hepatus pudibundus is an abundant by-catch in this fishery. Individual growth and mortality of H.

New records of box and moon crabs (Decapoda, Brachyura: Calappidae, Matutidae) from Taiwan
Crustaceana, 2010Two species of box crabs ( Calappa clypeata Borradaile, 1903, and Mursia poupini Galil, 2001) and one species of moon crab ( Ashtoret miersi (Henderson, 1887)) are recorded from Taiwan for the first time. Their distributions as well as their morphological features are discussed.
