Biostratigraphy and Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction at the Gebel Nezzazat (Central Sinai, Egypt): A Paleocene Record for the Southern Tethys

open access: yesGeosciences, 2022
The variations in assemblages of calcareous nannofossils are tracked in the Dakhla and Tarawan Formations exposed at Gebel Nezzazat (central Sinai, Egypt). Five calcareous nannofossil biozones, namely NP2/3, NP4, NP5, NP6, and NP7/8 are identified.

PALEOCLIMATIC INSIGHTS ON THE CENOMANIAN-TURONIAN OCEANIC ANOXIC EVENT (OAE2) FROM NORTHERN IRAQ BASED ON CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSILS AND GEOCHEMICAL DATA

open access: yesIraqi Geological Journal, 2020
Calcareous nannofossils, mineralogical and geochemical investigations are carried out on the Cenomanian-Turonian boundary of the Gulneri Formation in the Azmir, Dokan and Degala sections, northern Iraq.

Stratigraphy and Nannofossil Biozonation of Sarmord Formation on the Qaywan Anticline in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Northern Iraq

open access: yesIraqi Geological Journal, 2021
The Sarmord Formation is one of the overlooked formations that require more investigations than that achieved before. There are many problems in its definition, age, stratigraphy and aerial distribution.

Eocene to Oligocene nannofossils stratigraphy and environmental conditions in Izeh Province, Zagros Basin, East Tethys

open access: yesJournal of Palaeogeography, 2021
Data obtained from the calcareous nannofossils, distributed in the upper part of the Pabdeh Formation (Priabonian–Rupelian) and the lower part of the Asmari Formation (Chattian) in the Bid-Zard section, were used to investigate the Eocene to Oligocene ...

Investigating bio-events and time expansion of Calcareous nannofossils in the upper part of the Gurpi Formation and lower part of the Pabdeh Formation, northwestern Shiraz [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2020
In this study, calcareous nannofossils are investigated in the upper part of the Gurpi Formation and lower part of the Pabdeh Formation at the Par-e Nobar section located in the northwest of Shiraz. The thickness of the studied section is about 41 m. The

Novel nannofossils extraction methods from paintings, coupled with GC–MS for provenance determination and binder analysis

open access: yesHeritage Science, 2022
The use of calcareous nannofossils for provenance analysis is a new-old topic for cultural heritage. Several studies have already mentioned it for ceramic, but less for paintings.

Calcareous nannofossil assemblage in paintings chalk ground for provenance analysis: three original paintings compared to european source materials

open access: yesHeritage Science, 2023
Chalk has been used since Antiquity for various purposes, and since Gothic for preparatory layers of painted cultural heritage objects. Several materials are called chalk in Cultural Heritage, but this work especially focuses on chalk composed of ...

The calcareous nannofossil Prinsiosphaera achieved rock-forming abundances in the latest Triassic of western Tethys: consequences for the δ13C of bulk carbonate [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2013
The onset of pelagic biomineralization was a milestone in the history of the long-term inorganic carbon cycle: as soon as calcareous nannofossils became major limestone producers, the pH and supersaturation state of the global ocean were stabilized (the ...

History of oceanic front development in the New Zealand sector of the Southern Ocean during the Cenozoic--a synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The New Zealand sector of the Southern Ocean (NZSSO) has opened about the Indian-Pacific spreading ridge throughout the Cenozoic. Today the NZSSO is characterised by broad zonal belts of antarctic (cold), subantarctic (cool), and subtropical (warm ...

Biostratigraphic and magnetostratigraphic synthesis of the Celebes and Sulu Seas, Leg 124 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
During ODP Leg 124, late middle Eocene to Quaternary sediment sequences were recovered from 13 holes drilled at five sites in the Celebes and Sulu basins. Paleomagnetic measurements and biostratigraphic studies using calcareous nannofossils, planktonic
