Calcareous nannofossils and Mesozoic oceanic anoxic events

open access: yesMarine Micropaleontology, 2004
Abstract Twenty-five years ago, Mesozoic oceanic anoxic events (OAEs) were documented and formalised as intervals of widespread to global deposition of organic matter. The Toarcian, Early Aptian (OAE1a) and latest Cenomanian (OAE2) OAEs are truly global in nature, commonly carbonate-poor, and typically represented by organic carbon-rich black shales.

Calcareous nannofossil communities during Late Triassic Mass Extinction and Early Jurassic recovery in the NW Tethys: evidence from Slovakia, Western Carpathians [PDF]

open access: yesActa Palaeontologica Polonica
The first calcareous nannoplankton extinction and recovery close to the Triassic/Jurassic boundary (TJB) were studied in two Tatra Mountains sections of Kardolína and Furkaska.

CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSIL BIOSTRATIGRAPHY OF PALEOCENE TO MIDDLE EOCENE SUCCESSIONS (TERTIARY FLYSCH AUCTT.) OF THE NORTHERN APENNINES

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2015
An accurate biostratigraphic study of the Paleocene-middle Eocene calcareous nannofossils was performed on the turbiditic successions that characterize the Northern Apennines Mt. Caio, Farini d’Olmo, Mt. Sporno and Mt.

Integrated stratigraphy of the Waitakian-Otaian Stage boundary stratotype, Early Miocene, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The base of the type section of the Otaian Stage at Bluecliffs, South Canterbury, is recognised as the stratotype for the boundary between the Waitakian and Otaian Stages.

CALCAREOUS PLANKTON HIGH RESOLUTION BIOSTRATIGRAPHY (FORAMINIFERA AND NANNOFOSSILS) OF THE UPPERMOST LANGHIAN – LOWER SERRAVALLIANRAS IL-PELLEGRIN SECTION (MALTA)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2002
Results of an integrated biostratigraphic (calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifers) study of the uppermost Langhian/lower Serravallian Ras il-Pellegrin section (Fomm ir-Rih Bay – Malta) are presented.

Stratigraphy of Cretaceous to Lower Pliocene sediments in the northern part of Cyprus based on comparative 87Sr/86Sr isotopic, nannofossil and planktonic foraminiferal dating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
New age data from Sr isotope analysis and both planktonic foraminifera and nannofossils are presented and discussed here for the Upper Eocene–Upper Miocene sedimentary rocks of the Değirmenlik (Kythrea) Group.

APTIAN-ALBIAN CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSIL BIOSTRATIGRAPHY OF THE SCISTI A FUCOIDI CORED AT PIOBBICO (CENTRAL ITALY)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2020
The Aptian-Albian Scisti a Fucoidi, widespread in the Umbrian-Marchean Basin (Central Italy), consist of a pelagic cyclic varicolored sequence of marls, marly limestones and "black shales".

Neogene paleoceanography of the eastern equatorial Pacific based on the radiolarian record of IODP drill sites off Costa Rica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Expedition 344 drilled cores following a transect across the convergent margin off Costa Rica. Two of the five sites (U1381 and U1414) are the subject of the present study.
