This study reports the exceptional preservation of the Eocene freshwater bivalve Batissa sitakaraensis from Hokkaido, Japan. Multimodal analyses reveal that both the aragonitic shell mineralogy and the delicate organic periostracum retain their original structural and chemical characteristics after millions of years.

Apolar Behavior of Hydrated Calcite (10{-1}4) Surface Assists in Naphthenic Acid Adsorption
Water molecules bind strongly to the polar calcite surface and form a surface adsorbed layer that has properties akin to an apolar surface. This has important implications for understanding the thermodynamic driving forces underlying the adsorption of ...

Integrated petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical data from the Hastanetepe Pb–Zn deposit (Balya, Türkiye) reveal multi‐stage hydrothermal alteration and a magmatic sulphur source. Fluid inclusion and sulphur isotope results indicate a complex fluid evolution responsible for skarn‐type Pb–Zn mineralization along limestone–dacite contacts ...

Ultra fine grinting of calcite (CaCO3) power in a vertical stirred mill: Effect of some variables on product fineless [PDF]
In this study, the wet ultra fine grinding of calcite (CaCO3) powder in a vertical stirred mill was performed. The influence of some operating variables such as solids concentration, stirrer speed and ball filling ratio on the product fineness and ...
