Hysteresis and Reversibility in Calcium Ammonium Exchange in Bentonite

open access: yes, 1977
Chemical Laboratories, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Manuscript received 25 October, 1976, accepted 7 February, 1977 The ion exchange equilibria involving calcium and ammonium in an Indian sample of bentonite were studied from several angles .

Phosphate sorption by calcium‐bentonite as described by commonly used isotherms

open access: yesCommunications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 1994
Abstract The one and two Langmuir, the Freundlich, and the Temkin isotherms were fitted to phsophorus (P) sorption data for P sorption by calcium (Ca)‐bentonite at different initial concentration and pH values of 3.8, 4.8, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0. Each was found to describe P sorption by Ca‐bentonite with comparable success.

Development of an innovative cost-effective hemostatic material based on electrospun polyacrylonitrile/exfoliated bentonite/calcium chloride nanocomposite

open access: yesScientific Reports
Anti-hemorrhage nanomaterials are emerging as a promising alternative to traditional materials such as cotton and medical gauze, which often exhibit limited hemostatic properties and excessive adhesion to wound surfaces.

Effect of calcium bentonite on lipid parameters in Wistar albino rat

open access: yes, 2017
The in vivo effect of Nigerian calcium bentonite clay on rat plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels of Wistar albino rats was investigated. The rats were fed for a period of four weeks with varying concentrations of the bentonite clay, and the ...

Studies on Hydration Swelling and Bound Water Type of Sodium- and Polymer-Modified Calcium Bentonite

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, 2020
Modified calcium bentonite (Ca-bentonite) is extensively used in engineered barrier systems (EBSs) for municipal and industrial disposal sites due to its high swelling potential and low hydraulic conductivity.

Protease and Phytase Alleviate Digestive Limitations of Canola Seed in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
Protease and phytase, especially in combination, counteracted the digestive limitations of 10% canola seed in broiler diets by improving nutrient utilisation, intestinal health, microbial balance, digesta viscosity, bone quality and growth performance.

Influence of Mechanochemical Pretreatment on the Activation Behavior of Bentonite With Respect to Oil Bleaching Performance

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
Mechanochemical milling (120 min) followed by controlled sulfuric acid activation (2 M H2SO4) significantly enhanced bentonite surface accessibility and adsorption properties. The optimized material achieved 98.5% palm oil bleaching efficiency, with pigment removal governed by multilayer adsorption on a heterogeneous surface as described by the ...

β‐Cyclodextrin Immobilized in Geophagic Clay Sheets for the Absorption of Dyes From Wastewater Using a Fixed‐Bed Method

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 10, October 2026.
β‐Cyclodextrin‐functionalized geophagic clay was applied in a fixed‐bed column for the removal of rhodamine B (RhB) and methyl orange (MO). RhB interacts via electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bonding, while MO undergoes cavity inclusion complexation and hydrogen bonding within the βCD structure.

Effect of clay amendments on nitrogen leaching and forms in a sandy soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Nitrogen (N) leaching in sandy soil decreases fertiliser use efficiency and may depress plant production. Application of high cation exchange capacity (CEC) materials (e.g.

Restored wetlands: interplay between environmental variables, aboveground and belowground plant traits, and carbon cycling

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 1, Page 131-144, October 2026.
Assessing relationships between environmental conditions, aboveground and belowground plant traits, and carbon cycling in restored wetlands (grazed and ungrazed), compared to a baseline in near‐natural wetlands in Denmark, revealed that ecosystem functions can be restored, even in cases where plant biodiversity has not recovered.
