CALCIUM CARBONATE AND CALCIUM BICARBONATE

Loevenhart and Crandall1have recently suggested the use of calcium carbonate in the treatment of the gastric hyperacidity syndrome. The reason for suggesting it was that calcium carbonate is a very insoluble substance and that the suspension is apparently neutral in reaction, although it has a high neutralizing power for acids.
