A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

A simple formula for calculating resonance energy of benzenoid hydrocarbons

open access: yesMacedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 2006
The topological resonance energy (TRE) of a catacondensed benzenoid hydrocarbon with h six-membered rings and K Kekulé structures can be calculated by the (approximate) formula TRE = Ah + B + CK e–Dh, where A = 0.136, B = –0.223, C = 0.281, and D = 0.454.

A Unified Weight Formula for Calculating the Sample Variance from Weighted Successive Differences

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2014
The basic formula to calculate sample variance is based on the sum of squared differences from mean. From computational perspective, mean calculation is nondesired as it can introduce computing errors.

CSF Monoamine Metabolites and Cognitive Trajectory in Early Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Imaging and postmortem studies indicate that abnormalities in monoaminergic neurotransmission contribute to cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains uncertain if cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) monoamine metabolites can serve as biomarkers of cognitive decline in early PD.

"Raw" Formula for Calculating Maintenance Fluid Volumes in Low Birth-Weight and Premature Babies Derived [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Fluid management of low birth weight and preterm babies can be challenging, as the determination of maintenance fluid volumes have to be calculated to suit the demands of this delicate neonates in order to avoid fluid over-load or dehydration.
