Dental Calculus and the Evolution of the Human Oral Microbiome
Characterizing the evolution of the oral microbiome is a challenging, but increasingly feasible, task. Recently, dental calculus has been shown to preserve ancient biomolecules from the oral microbiota, host tissues and diet for tens of thousands of years. As such, it provides a unique window into the ancestral oral microbiome.

CTSK plays a critical role in pulmonary fibrosis. Excessive CTSK accumulation interacts with SNX9 to enhance TGF‐β1‐induced SMAD3 activation and GLS1 expression in fibroblasts, driving glutamine metabolism for collagen biosynthesis and exacerbating pulmonary fibrosis.

Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is often preceded by sequential premalignant lesions with an increasing probability of malignant progression. Using single‐cell RNA sequencing, the dynamic cellular evolution from normal lung to LUSC tissues is delineated; clonal structure of premalignant and malignant epithelium is reveled; the conversion of immune ...

High Resolution Electron Microscopy of the Junction Between Enamel and Dental Calculus [PDF]
Newly formed dental calculus grows on the enamel surface after the tooth crown is exposed to the oral environment. In order to demonstrate the crystal coherence, the junction between enamel and dental calculus was examined in the high resolution electron
