Career Rewards for Part‐Time Politicians
ABSTRACT Do part‐time politicians benefit professionally from holding political office? Despite the prevalence of part‐time officeholders in democratic systems, little is known about how political service interacts with ordinary careers. This study examines whether entering part‐time local office affects politicians' likelihood of attaining managerial ...

Exploring Marine Biogeochemical Prediction With Linear Dynamical Frameworks
Abstract Prediction of marine primary production (PP) forms the basis for forecasting marine ecosystems. Despite many prediction approaches, few have used linear dynamics to investigate PP predictability. Here, we implement Linear Inverse Models (LIM) to examine the predictability of PP in the eastern Pacific. Forecast skill substantially improves when

Burned Area Over Africa Reduced by Shortened Dry Season
Abstract While most of Africa's burned area occurs during the dry season, the relationship between dry season characteristics and fire activity remains poorly understood. This study demonstrates a significant decrease in the length of the African dry season over 1990–2023, primarily contributed by delayed dry season onset in both the Northern (NH) and ...

Abstract Isolating glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) signals from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations of vertical land motion (VLM) in Greenland requires removal of elastic solid Earth response to contemporary ice mass change. This elastic correction depends on ice‐surface elevation changes derived from satellite altimetry and firn ...

Atmospheric Noise Forcing Increases Multiyear El Niño Events
Abstract Despite their pronounced climate impacts, the physical processes that control the frequency of multiyear El Niño events remain incompletely understood. Using an Interactive Ensemble (IE) coupling strategy, we find that atmospheric noise forcing plays an important role in modulating the frequency of multiyear El Niño events.
