Cattle Cycles, Heterogeneous Expectations and the Age Distribution of Capital [PDF]
This paper builds a dynamic forward-looking model describing the approximate ten-year cattle cycle. The theoretical model improves on existing models by (1) keeping track of the age distribution of the capital stock, (2) allowing for heterogeneous ...

Veal calf industry economics [PDF]
This paper provides an outline of the veal industry, its standing relative to other cattle farming enterprises, and its future prospects. In 2008 some 20 per cent of bovines slaughtered in the EU were for veal production and about one-third of them were

The effects of restricted nursing (RN) and the administration of a bovine appeasing substance (BAS) on days −8 and 0 in relation to weaning were evaluated. Both strategies were effective in improving the growth performance of beef calves. Regarding welfare, BAS ‐especially on day 0‐ was more effective than RN.

The bioactive substances we extracted from Lycium barbarum residue (LBR) have a typical polysaccharide structure. When 1.80% LBR was used to replace maize in the diet, the average daily gain of rossbred Simmental was significantly increased, and anti‐inflammatory ability was improved. In addition, LBR improved the fecal microbial composition, increased

A METHOD FOR DETERMINING RANCH PROFIT PROBABILITIES WHEN LIVESTOCK YIELDS ARE NORMALLY DISTRIBUTED [PDF]
Data on net turnoff for small, medium-sized and large cow-calf and small and large size yearling ranches were tested for normality using the Shapiro - Wilk test. The yield data examined were accepted as normally distributed at the alpha = .10 level.

Follicle Stimulating Hormone in Cattle Breeding: Fundamentals, Innovations, and Scope
FSH is crucial in cattle reproduction, with exogenous administration enhancing breeding and embryo production. Recombinant FSH offers advantages over pituitary‐extracted variants, including fewer injections, reduced stress, and safer production. These innovations improve breeding efficiency, optimize reproductive outcomes, and contribute to sustainable

Minimalist Footwear Acutely Alters Running Kinematics in Runners With Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome
Purpose To assess immediate biomechanical changes in runners with medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) when transitioning from standard to minimalist running shoes. Methods Active runners diagnosed with MTSS ran on a treadmill at 10 km/h using standard and minimalist running shoes. Hip, knee, and ankle joint kinematics were captured using a 16‐infrared‐
