Calibration as Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
One aspect of calibration in macroeconomics is the notion that the free parameters of models should be chosen by matching certain moments of the simulated models with those of actual data. We formally examine this notion by treating the process of calibration as an econometric estimator.

Estimation of the GSSM calibration error

Applied Optics, 2016
The calibration of the tertiary mirror of the Thirty Meter Telescope, also known as the giant science steering mirror (GSSM), is a step of great significance during its testing process. Systematic, drift, and random errors constitute the major limitations to the accuracy of the calibration measurements.

Calibration and estimation of redundant signals

Proceedings of the 2002 American Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.CH37301), 2000
This paper presents an adaptive filter for real-time calibration of redundant signals consisting of sensor data and/or analytically derived measurements. The measurement noise covariance matrix is adjusted as a function of the a posteriori probabilities of failure of the individual signals. An estimate of the measured variable is obtained as a weighted

The Generic Bilinear Calibration-Estimation Problem

International Journal of Computer Vision, 1997
We identify a very general, recurring pattern in a number of well known problems in biological and machine vision. Many problems are of a peculiar double-sided nature: One attempts to estimate certain properties of the environment using a certain type of equipment and simultaneously one attempts to calibrate the same equipment on the structure of the ...

Calibration Weighting and Estimation

2020
One of the important features of survey data is the availability of auxiliary information from the survey population. Auxiliary population information may be available from census enumerations or administrative records. It could also be obtained from unusual sources such as satellite images for natural resource inventory surveys or a previous survey ...

Direction-of-arrival estimation and array calibration for partly-calibrated arrays

2011 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2011
In this paper, a new direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation technique applicable to partly-calibrated arrays (PCAs) composed of arbitrary subarrays with unknown subarray displacements is developed. The new method is not restricted to any specific array geometry and allows joint estimation of the DOAs and calibration of the entire sensor array.
