Effects of high‐intensity exercise training on physical fitness, quality of life and treatment outcomes after oesophagectomy for cancer of the gastro‐oesophageal junction: PRESET pilot study

With concurrent aerobic exercise and resistance training twice a week during treatment, patients with cancer of the gastro‐oesophageal junction can return cardiopulmonary fitness and muscle strength to pretreatment levels at completion of treatment.

Telemedicine in postoperative follow‐up of STOMa PAtients: a randomized clinical trial (the STOMPA trial)

In this RCT, postoperative telemedicine follow‐up by designated stoma nurses led to no significant differences in quality of life (QoL) compared with that for standard hospital follow‐up. However, telemedicine follow‐up did not meet the pretrial QoL superiority criteria.

Legal perspectives on black box recording devices in the operating environment

A video and medical data recorder in the operating theatre is possible, but concerns over privacy, data use and litigation have limited widespread implementation. Transparency on the use and purpose of the recorded data should be ensured to both staff and patients. Clear legislation on data responsibility is needed to use the medical recorder optimally

Effect of Nitrogen and Periphyton Extract on the Growth of Nostoc sphaericum in Cultures

Nostoc sphaericum shows marked growth differences in two Mexican wetland ecosystems consisting of rain forest and tropical deciduous forest, respectively.
