A Modified California Bearing Ratio Test for Granular Materials

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1978
Abstract It is known that laboratory and field tests, under saturation conditions, yield different California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test values for granular material. This is due primarily to the higher laboratory strength of the specimen confined in a rigid cylinder.

An analysis of the California bearing ratio test in saturated clays

Géotechnique, 1982
An analysis of the California bearing ratio (CBR) test on saturated clays has been carried out using finite element techniques. The aim was to examine whether the test adequately reflected the stiffness of the clays as this is an important parameter in determiningthe performance of road pavements on clay subgrades.

Correlation of California Bearing Ratio with Shear Strength Parameters

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2007
The California bearing ratio (CBR) test is still widely used in the design and analysis of pavements. The CBR test is relatively expensive and time consuming. A method is proposed for correlating CBR values with the undrained shear strength of clay soils, or the effective internal friction angle of noncohesive soils.

Simplified Generalized California Bearing Ratio Pavement Design Equation

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1996
The probabilistic approach to pavement design and evaluation requires estimation of the diversity associated with each design parameter. Results and conclusions should be based on statistical analysis with wide application of mathematical statistics and theory of reliability methods.

Prediction of California Bearing Ratio Using Particle Swarm Optimization

2019
California bearing ratio (CBR) is one of the soul parameters for the pavement designs. CBR value can assess the stiffness and strength of the subgrade. Moreover, it was influenced by various properties such as index properties and compaction characteristics of the soils. The paper aims the viability of the swarm assisted particle optimization (PSO) for

Application of Geosynthetic Fibre in Soil and California Bearing Ratio Test

Advanced Science Letters, 2013
Geosynthetic fibers are an established family of geomaterials used in a wide variety of civil engineering applications such as pavement systems. In pavement design, CBR ratio count as an important parameter. This study aims to investigate effect of fiber inclusion on CBR ratio.

Prediction of California Bearing Ratio by Reliability Analysis: A Review

2019
Reliability analysis is used as a vital tool to predict the uncertainty and take right decisions. It is very important for engineers to predict the behaviour of soil and construction-materials (after construction) used in infrastructures. California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test is performed to measure the strength of soil, is often used as a design ...

Effect of Soil Drainage on California Bearing Ratio of Soaked Clay

International Review of Civil Engineering (IRECE), 2016
The quality of pavement is affected mostly by the type of subgrade soil, and in many countries, the subgrade soil is clay. The California Bearing Ratio CBR of clay is generally very low which leads to a thicker layer of pavement and sub base materials. This increase in quantities leads to a significant increase in cost.

Variation of California bearing ratios of Black cotton soils with additives

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
Abstract Now a day all over the globe building of civil infrastructure has gained unbelievable priority towards the globalization. Many major projects such as highways, railways, high rise buildings, seaports, airports etc are the symbolic representation to say a particular country developed or not.

California Bearing Ratio Behavior of Soil/Fly Ash Mixtures

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2001
Abstract Fly ash is a hyproduct of the combustion of pulverized coal in thermal power plants. Energy and environmental considerations over the coming years point to greater use of coal and hence a further increase in the quantity of fly ash.
