Self-organized arrays of calix[4]arene and calix[4]arene diquinone disulfide on (111)
Chemical Physics Letters, 2002Abstract Calixarene molecules of calix[4]arene and calix[4]arene diquinone disulfide (CDS) have been investigated in aqueous HClO4 solution by using cyclic voltammetry and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The two molecules are found to organize ordered arrays on a Au(1 1 1) surface.

Supramolecular fixation of NO2 with calix[4]arenes
Chemical Communications, 2002Reaction of NO2 with simple calix[4]arenes in chloroform in the presence of a Lewis acid rapidly results in intense coloration caused by the encapsulation of nitrosonium cation.

Chromogenic Azo-Coupled Calix[4]arenes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2002Novel 1,3-alternate calix[4]azacrowns having an azo chromophoric pendent group were synthesized, and their 1,3-alternate conformations were confirmed by X-ray crystal structure. In view of the hypsochromical UV band shifting upon cation complexation, azo-coupled calix[4]azacrown-5 (3) showed the most selective shifting with alkali and alkaline metal ...

The synthesis and structural characterization of a samarium-dinitrogen complex supported by a calix[4]arene ligand in which the N-N bond distance has been stretched to 1.611(16) Angstrom are described. The central mu(3)-eta(2):eta(2):eta(2)-hydrazido tetraanion formed is bonded to three Sm(III) centers with an overall butterfly-type arrangement.

Tetrahedron, 1996
The diazonium coupling between two kinds of p-diallylcalix[4]arenes (3 and 4) and p-substituted benzenediazonium salts yielded calix[4]arenes with two different substituents on their para-position. The synthesis and the 1H-NMR spectral characteristic features of the two p-diallylcalix[4]arenes and their arylazo derivatives are discussed.

Calix[4]arene-based ligands as endotoxin receptors
Tetrahedron, 2007Three new calix[4]arene-based receptors as potential antimicrobial agents have been synthesized. Their recognition ability towards lipopolysaccharides of Gram-negative bacteria has been studied by NMR and UV titrations.

Nuclear Motions of an Inclusion Complex of Calix[4]arene
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 1998The 2:1 inclusion complex of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene and p-xylene was investigated by a combination of inelastic neutron scattering, INS, experiments and MM3 molecular mechanics calculations. Since the INS spectrum depends only on the vibrational frequencies and the form of the normal modes, the reasonable agreement between experiments and ...

Calix[4]arene-Based Porous Organic Nanosheets
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2018Calixarenes are a common motif in supramolecular chemistry but have rarely been incorporated in structurally well-defined covalent 2D materials. Such a task is challenging, especially without a template, because of the nonplanar configuration and conformational flexibility of the calixarene ring.
