Species which may act as vectors or reservoirs of diseases covered by the Animal Health Law: Listed pathogens of crustaceans. [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA J, 2023
Abstract Vector or reservoir species of three diseases of crustaceans listed in the Animal Health Law were identified based on evidence generated through an extensive literature review, to support a possible updating of Regulation (EU) 2018/1882.

Amino acid nitrogen and carbon isotope data: Potential and implications for ecological studies. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2022
Stable isotope analysis of individual amino acids (AAs) in natural abundance is now emerging as a promising and complementary method to characterize the flow and transformation of resources across a diversity of organisms, from microbial domains to macroscopic consumers. Many empirical ecologists are still unfamiliar with the scope of applicability and

All or nothing: Switch to high current reproductive investment under risk of starvation in male kelp crab. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2020
In this study, we demonstrate plasticity in recovery of seminal reserves in response to distinct environmental conditions in the kelp crab Taliepus dentatus. We show that the recovery index at 16°C within 30 days was twice as high in starved compared with fed crabs.

Macrogenetics Approach Reveals Spatial Trends and Drivers of Mitochondrial Genetic Diversity at Different Biological Organization Levels in Tropical Western Atlantic Decapods. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
There is a knowledge gap concerning the genetic diversity distribution across marine invertebrates, and whether the latitudinal genetic diversity gradient results from congruent intraspecific trends. Our results indicate higher genetic diversity in lower latitudes is correlated to productivity and oxygen levels, but does not represent the accumulation ...

Physiology of Ovarian Development in Crustaceans: Interactions Among Hormones, Nutrients, and Environmental Factors From Integrated Perspectives. [PDF]

open access: yesAquac Nutr
Reproductive maturation remains a central bottleneck in crustacean aquaculture, as ovarian development dictates broodstock quality, fecundity, and larval viability. This review synthesizes current knowledge on the physiological regulation of ovarian maturation in decapod crustaceans, emphasizing the interplay of hormones, nutrients, and environmental ...

De Novo Transcriptome Assembly Reveals Insights Into Osmoregulation and Oxidative Stress Response in the Gills of the Southern King Crab (<i>Lithodes santolla</i>). [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
The Southern King Crab (Lithodes santolla), an ecologically and commercially important species in sub‐Antarctic waters. In this study, we assembled the first gill de novo transcriptome of L. santolla to characterize gene expression related to environmental responses.

Recent developments in male fertility evaluation, sperm cryopreservation and artificial fertilisation, and their potential application to decapod crustacean aquaculture

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 848-889, March 2022., 2022
Abstract To maximise productivity, a better understanding of the underlying causes of subfertility that lead to inferior offspring and high mortality is imperative. In decapod crustaceans, most research has focused on female reproductive performance, with little attention given to male fertility.

Age and growth of Callinectes danae (Brachyura: Portunidae) in a tropical region [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Crustacean Biology, 2012
Some 2178 male and 2109 female Callinectes danae Smith, 1869 were caught in Northeastern Brazil, from March 2009 through February 2010; we reared 24 males and 24 females for 6 months. The relative growth (relation between weight and cephalothorax width) showed negative allometry, except in adult males.

Crustáceos decápodos da Ilha da Restinga

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 1980
This paper deals with the decapods crustaceans from Restinga island (Paraíba State, Brazil). A list of species collected from September 1977 to March 1978 and some ecological notes are given.
