Free Amino Acids in the Haemocytes and Plasma of the Larva of Calliphora Vicina
Journal of Experimental Biology, 1974ABSTRACT Free amino acid concentrations have been measured in haemolymph samples taken from 3rd instar larvae of the blowfly, Calliphora vicina, at various stages prior to pupariation. The amino acids found in the haemocyte fraction only accounted for 6% of the total free amino acid concentration of the haemolymph.

Structural and functional aspects of sense organs on the maxillary palps of Calliphora vicina
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1976Abstract The maxillary palps of the blowfly Calliphora vicina Robineau-Desvoidy are shown to bear, in addition to long mechanoreceptive hairs, small sensilla basiconica ccontaining three neurons. The electrical responses obtained with a simple qualitative olfactometer indicate an olfactory function.

Calcium distribution during egg development in Calliphora vicina
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1984Abstract Calcium distribution during egg development in Calliphora vicina has been measured by atomic absorption spectroscopy. When female flies are fed meat, their calcium content rises and then remains stable throughout egg development. As the ovaries accumulate calcium, there is a corresponding decrease in the calcium content of the Malpighian ...

[Hemocytes of Calliphora vicina larvae. I. Histological analysis].
Tsitologiia, 2004The rational classification of blood cells of a blowfly Calliphora vicina larva has been worked out basing on the studies of hemocyte morphology and their dynamics while ageing. Eight morphological cell types can be found during the third age in larva's hemolymph.

Transcellular calcium transport by the midgut of the blowfly, Calliphora vicina.
Cell calcium, 1984Transcellular calcium transport by the internally perfused Calliphora midgut has been measured by simultaneously monitoring 45Ca removal from the perfusing saline (entry to the cells) and its appearance in the bathing saline (exit from the cells). Reduction of the Na+ gradient across the basolateral membranes of midgut epithelial cells by removal of ...
