It is increasingly important for parallel applications to run together on the same machine. However, current performance is often poor: programs do not adapt well to dynamically varying numbers of cores, and the CPU time received by concurrent jobs can differ drastically.

Gravitational evidence for an undifferentiated Callisto
Nature, 1997Before the arrival of the Galileo spacecraft at Jupiter, models for the interior structure of the four galilean satellites--Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto-ranged from uniform mixtures of rock and ice (that is, undifferentiated objects) or rocky cores surrounded by a mantle of water ice.

On the radio emission of Callisto
Icarus, 1973Abstract A model of an icy surface and interior for Callisto gives a predicted thermal radio emission in good agreement with experimental radio astronomical data. The radio brightness temperature of an icy surface will not depend on wavelength. This may be a method to test icy surface hypotheses.

The journey to Callisto will rival the journeys of Shackleton and Mawson because, once in transit, the crew will have no re-supply and only limited resources and capabilities available to maintain and repair their vehicle. In contrast, the International Space Station (ISS) is outfitted with a lifeboat to assure crew safety but, for astronauts en route ...

Callisto: Mergers Without Pain
2007As value networks evolve, we observe the phenomenon of businesses consolidating through mergers and businesses disaggregating and then virtually "re-merging" dynamically to respond to new opportunities. But these constituent businesses were not built in any standard way, and neither were their IT systems. An example in the industrial sector is the need

Ozone (O3), regarded as a biomarker, has been observed on the icy satellites Ganymede [1a], Dione and Rhea [1b]. Presence of O3 on the icy surfaces of Ganymede, Rhea and Dione are due to energetic processing of oxygen-bearing molecules. Laboratory experiments had shown efficient synthesis of O3 in oxygen-bearing molecules such as COx, SOx and NOx. Most
