Callithrix argentata (Silver marmoset)

Several acrocentrics actually bear distinct second arms, so that they may be classified as subtelocentrics. Secondary constrictions are not obvious on any of the acrocentrics. Identification of the X is subjective even in the male cells, but identification of the Y offers no problem.

Callithrix jacchus (Common marmoset)

1967
Like other marmosets, this species bears fraternal twins and most animals are blood chimerae. There appears to be polymorphism of the structure of Y. In some of our specimens it is the smallest metacentric element as shown here, in other specimens this is a minute chromosome having an apparent subtelocentric configuration (Wohnus and Benirschke).
