Phylogenetics and an updated taxonomic status of the Tamarins (Callitrichinae, Cebidae)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2022
Traditionally, Saguinus has been organized into six taxonomic groups: bicolor, inustus, midas, mystax, nigricollis, and oedipus. After recent revisions, taxonomic reclassifications were proposed, including (1) the recognition of Leontocebus as a new genus, and (2) the subdivision of Saguinus into three subgenera.

Phylogenetic analysis of twinning in Callitrichinae

American Journal of Primatology, 2000
The callitrichines are known for twinning and for a communal rearing system in which all or most group members help care for the offspring. The origin of twinning has been the subject of much speculation. In this study predictions from earlier hypotheses are tested on the basis of two alternative phylogenetic trees.
