Allometric Scaling in Platyrrhine Molars and Relationships between Their Relative Size and Loss of the Third Molar in the Callitrichinae

open access: yesPrimate Research, 2002
There is the hypothesis (Ford, 1980) that the callitrichines, which are rapidly dwarfed, should have relatively large postcanine teeth in comparison with other platyrrhines (non-callitrichines) and the loss of the third molars is probably the result of crowding from the disproportional enlarged molar teeth. In the present study, to test this hypothesis,

Early evolutionary diversification of mandible morphology in the New World monkeys (Primate, Platyrrhini) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
New World monkeys (order Primates) are an example of a major mammalian evolutionary radiation in the Americas, with a contentious fossil record. There is evidence of an early platyrrhine occupation of this continent by the EoceneeOligocene transition ...

Phylogenetic approaches for studying competition in mammals

open access: yes, 2009
Interspecific competition is often proposed to shape mammalian evolution. Many studies use trait and distribution data on extant species, but this ignores temporal aspects of competition.

Human neuromaturation, juvenile extreme energy liability, and adult cognition/cooperation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Human childhood and adolescence is the period in which adult cognitive competences (including those that create the unique cooperativeness of humans) are acquired.

The description of a new marmoset genus, Callibella (Callitrichinae, Primates), including its molecular phylogenetic status

open access: yesNeotropical Primates, 2003
This paper describes a new genus of Amazonian marmosets, the dwarf marmoset Callibella, formerly identified as Callithrix humilis (Van Roosmalen et al., 1998), and reports its phylogenetic relationship to other callitrichines, based on 902 base pairs (bp) of the mitochondrial control region DNA sequence.

Morphological Comparisons of Five Species of Tamarins in Peru [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Tamarins of the genus Leontocebus (formerly Saguinus), subfamily Callitrichinae, represent one of the most diverse primate taxa but detailed information about their phylogeny is still lacking.
