Soil contamination by lead (Pb) is a problem due to the persistence of this element on soil. High amounts of Pb in soil impair plant establishment, however some plants may increase tolerance to heavy metals when colonized by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF).

Note on Calopogonium mucunoides Desv. (Fabaceae): A New Species Record for Eastern and Central India
Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, India Section B: Biological Sciences, 2014Calopogonium mucunoides Desv. (Fabaceae), alien to the Indian flora, was discovered from two locations of the east coastal plains of agro-ecological zone of Odisha state. After critical review of published literature on the distribution, its natural occurrence in Odisha was found to be a new record for the eastern and central India.

Growing Calopogonium Mucunoides as a solution to Soil Erosion on the West Coast
Madras Agricultural Journal, 1954The inercasingly devastating effects of uninterrupted soil erosion is perhaps nowhere more patent in this country than in the rolling topography of the South-West Coast of India exposed to an annual rainfall ranging from 100 to 200 inches. While expensive measures of soil conservation like contour bunding, bench terracing etc.

In this study, a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, and non-spore-forming bacterium, which was designated as strain CCBUA 65841T, was isolated from a root nodule of Calopogonium mucunoides grown in Yunan Province of China. The sequence alignment results of 16S rRNA and four housekeeping genes (including gyrB, recA, dnaK and rpoB) indicated the isolated strain ...
