Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) Design Enables Optimally Hydrated DES‐in‐Water Electrolytes for High‐Performance Bromine Redox‐Enhanced Energy Storage Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Faradaic charging with bromine redox chemistry shows promise for energy storage, yet its efficient use in aqueous electrolytes is hindered by water decomposition and polybromides' cross‐diffusion, leading to suboptimal cell performance. This study introduces a tetrabutylammonium bromide‐based hydrated deep eutectic electrolyte with optimized water ...

Programmable Liquid Crystal Elastomers Via Magnetic Field Assisted Oligomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a straightforward method for designing programmable liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) actuators using magnetic field alignment. It combines thio‐Michael polyaddition for efficient LCE synthesis with a strategy that preserves the nematic phase, enabling the alignment of high molecular weight LCOs.

Heat Capacity Anomaly of LSCO Cuprates with Nonmagnetic Impurity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
The low temperature heat capacity investigations on pure(y=0) and Zn-doped La1.84Sr0.16Cu1-yZnyO4 samples have been performed in the interval of 1.8-60K by a new method of high-precision, pulsed differential calorimetry (PDC), which provides the measurements under the equilibrium conditions, in contrast to commonly used differential scanning ...

High‐Entropy Liquid Metal Process for Transparent Ultrathin p‐Type Gallium Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a doping strategy for harvesting ultrathin Ga oxide layers using a multi‐elemental Ga‐based liquid metal alloy. The incorporation of trivalent In metal into the self‐limiting oxide formed on the alloy's surface is enabled by the existence of atomically dispersed Pt, Au, and Pd.
