SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS Angiocardiographic anatomy of 7 young calves was similar to that described in man and other animals. In the lateral projection, the right ventricle occupied the cranioventral portion of the cardiac silhouette. Caudal and caudoventral borders of the right ventricle were roughened and irregular due to filling defects caused by ...

Calving and weaning performance of calves from heifers bred to easy calving sires
Canadian Journal of Animal Science, 1994In a calving ease comparison involving 106 calves born to first calf heifers, calves sired by Red Angus bulls were heavier at birth and required more calving assistance than Corriente-sired calves. However, the easier calving Corriente-sired calves experienced equivalent death loss and were significantly lighter at 3, 5 and 7 mo of age.

Despite the efforts of both physicians and veterinarians, the number of cases of salmonellosis per year has held steady or risen. The ability of the organism to live in many different animal species and under inhospitable environmental conditions is likely responsible for Salmonella's prevalence today.

Based on a review of observations on different types of calving glaciers, a simple calving model is proposed. Glaciers that exist in a sufficiently cold climate can form floating ice shelves and ice tongues that typically do not extend beyond confinements such as lateral fjord walls or mountains, and ice rises. If the local climate exceeds the thermal

Many times, it is not possible to deliver a calf vaginally. Veterinarians need to be familiar with the indications for a cesarean section (C-section), how to perform the surgery, and to move on to this option in a timely manner to achieve the best results. This paper will cover the indications for a C-section. There are several surgical approaches, but

For decades, veterinarians have believed that young animals with circulating maternally-derived antibody cannot be effectively vaccinated. However, many investigators have shown that young animals vaccinated in the face of maternal antibody (IFOMA), while not showing evidence of an increase in serum antibody titer typically seen in older animals ...

Abstract Dozens of horns-rough and smooth, large and small-filled the dark ministry vault. Some came from dehorning operations, others from animals that had died naturally in the veld. Most were from poached rhinos. “Rundu,” “Katima Mulilo,” “Oshakati,” the names of border towns, were scribbled across the severed surfaces. Confiscated
