Permutrees [PDF]

open access: yesAlg. Comb., 1(2):173-224, 2018, 2016
We introduce permutrees, a unified model for permutations, binary trees, Cambrian trees and binary sequences. On the combinatorial side, we study the rotation lattices on permutrees and their lattice homomorphisms, unifying the weak order, Tamari, Cambrian and boolean lattices and the classical maps between them.

Primary aragonite and high-Mg calcite in the late Cambrian (Furongian) : Potential evidence from marine carbonates in Oman [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Acknowledgements Fieldwork and sampling was funded by Petroleum Development Oman during S. Al Marjibis's Ph.D. Their help is gratefully acknowledged. We also thank colleagues at the University of Aberdeen, Julie Dougans (SUERC) for assisting with stable ...

Brick polytopes, lattice quotients, and Hopf algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper is motivated by the interplay between the Tamari lattice, J.-L. Loday's realization of the associahedron, and J.-L. Loday and M. Ronco's Hopf algebra on binary trees.

Distribution models calibrated with independent field data predict two million ancient and veteran trees in England

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 32, Issue 8, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Large, citizen‐science species databases are powerful resources for predictive species distribution modeling (SDM), yet they are often subject to sampling bias. Many methods have been proposed to correct for this, but there exists little consensus as to which is most effective, not least because the true value of model predictions is hard to ...

Controls on gut phosphatisation : the trilobites from the Weeks Formation Lagerstätte (Cambrian; Utah) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Despite being internal organs, digestive structures are frequently preserved in Cambrian Lagerstätten. However, the reasons for their fossilisation and their biological implications remain to be thoroughly explored.

The Cambrian Hopf Algebra [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2015
Cambrian trees are oriented and labeled trees which fulfill local conditions around each node generalizing the conditions for classical binary search trees. Based on the bijective correspondence between signed permutations and leveled Cambrian trees, we define the Cambrian Hopf algebra generalizing J.-L. Loday and M. Ronco’s algebra on binary trees. We

A Cambrian–Ordovician Terrestrialization of Arachnids [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2020
Understanding the temporal context of terrestrialization in chelicerates depends on whether terrestrial groups, the traditional Arachnida, have a single origin and whether or not horseshoe crabs are primitively or secondarily marine. Molecular dating on a phylogenomic tree that recovers arachnid monophyly, constrained by 27 rigorously vetted fossil ...

Learner-Educator Co-creation: A Case for Enhancing Authentic Assessment in Nursing Education

open access: yesCanadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Authentic assessments support learner needs and meaningful learning by requiring students to use knowledge in a way that develops their competence to solve problems in professional contexts.
