Nanobodies as next‐generation targeting platforms: From discovery technologies to translational biomedicine

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Nanobodies, derived from the variable domains of camelid heavy‐chain‐only antibodies, have emerged as transformative biomedical tools due to their nanoscale size, exceptional stability, and unique capacity to recognize cryptic epitopes. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the field, outlining the structural and biochemical features of ...

The Late Agricultural Development of Central Arabian Oases—Archaeobotanical and Archaeozoological Studies of the al‐Kharj Oasis

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.

The steppe species of gastrointestinal nematodes of small ruminants, with a focus on Marshallagia: climate as a key determinant

open access: yesParasite, 2011
We intended to relate the geographic distribution of ruminant gastrointestinal nematodes in relation to steppe climate (and vegetation). Data are either from literature or from newly acquired/ available results.

Novel Bispecific Engagers Targeting the CεmX Domain of mIgE‐Expressing Cells

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
We developed bispecific TCE & NKCE targeting the CεmX domain of mIgE to eliminate IgE‐producing cells. Both constructs demonstrated potent, specific, dose‐dependent cytotoxicity and selective immune activation in vitro. These results highlight their promise as off‐the‐shelf, potentially curative therapeutics for IgE‐associated allergic diseases ...

Herding Ecologies and Ongoing Plant Domestication Processes in the Americas

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Understanding both domestication processes and agricultural practices is an interdisciplinary endeavor. Ethnographic research is potentially helpful for reconstructing past events.

Timing the Sacred: A Multi‐Step Chronological Framework for the Llullaillaco Inca Burial

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Absolute radiocarbon dating offers high precision, but its application to historical contexts, such as the Inca civilization, requires a rigorous methodological approach. This research examines methods to enhance chronological accuracy through a case study of artifacts from the Llullaillaco Capacocha sacrifice.

Pulmonary arterial lesions in new world camelids in association with dicrocoelium dendriticum and fasciola hepatica infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In Switzerland, dicrocoeliasis is regarded as the most significant parasitic infection of llamas and alpacas. Fasciola hepatica infestation is also a problem but less common.

Multivalent antibody‐based conjugates as new tools for tailored modulation of G protein–coupled receptors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
The G protein–coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily consists of the most common targets of approved drugs. Targeting GPCRs offers appealing avenues for therapeutic development. Antibodies and their fragments, such as single‐domain antibodies (VHHs or nanobodies), have emerged as useful alternatives to small molecule pharmacophores as building blocks in ...

Incorporating the Competencies of Evidence‐Based Veterinary Medicine Focused on Pharmacotherapeutics Into Clinical Rotations for Small Animal Dermatology and Food Animal Medicine and Surgery at a Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in the US

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Building the skills and knowledge necessary to practice evidence‐based veterinary medicine (EBVM) should occur throughout the veterinary curriculum. Operationalizing EBVM includes asking a clinical question in PICO format, searching the biomedical literature for evidence, critically appraising the evidence, and applying the evidence to make a ...
