Physicochemical Reinforcement Unlocks Sterilization‐Stable Anisotropic Hydrogels for Cell‐Compatible Mock Arteries

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In vitro arterial models offer ethical and robust alternatives for vascular research but require cytocompatible materials that replicate physiological mechanics. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels produced by directional freezing and salting‐out (PVA DFSO) are anisotropic yet lack stability for cell culture. Herein, methacrylated PVA (PVA‐MA)

A Simple Automatic Counting of the Number of Visitors to the Browsing Room of Library with a Network-Camera [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In Kajitori1), we constructed an inexpensive people counting system using a network camera for the browsing room of the library. In using the system for a year, the counting of visitors to the browsing room has been done by a human because the number of ...

OPTIMAL CAMERA NETWORK DESIGN FOR 3D MODELING OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

open access: yes, 2012
Digital cultural heritage documentation in 3D is subject to research and practical applications nowadays. Image-based modeling is a technique to create 3D models, which starts with the basic task of designing the camera network.

A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

Geometry Of A Non-Overlapping Multi-Camera Network

open access: yes, 2006
Moving beyond single or stationary camera surveillance systems, we employ an automatically configurable network of non-overlapping cameras. These cameras need not have an overlapping Field of View (FoV) and should be able to move freely in space. In this

A Versatile Microfluidic Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Platform for Self‐Organization and Long‐Term Maintenance of Engineered 3D Lymphatic Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic coaxial extrusion generates size‐controlled 3D lymphatic tubes from primary human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells in a defined four‐component matrix. These engineered vessels self‐organize into stable lymphatic endothelium, maintain selective macromolecular permeability for 30 days, and enable direct comparison with blood endothelial ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Camera network topology estimation by lighting variation

open access: yes, 2015
The goal of this paper is to find connections between cameras in a large surveillance network. As a proxy for camera pairs whose fields of view overlap spatially, we find pairs that are affected by a common light source.
