Physiologic regulation of heart rate and blood pressure involves connexin 36-containing gap junctions [PDF]

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 31, Issue 9, Page 3966-3977, September 2017., 2017
Chronically elevated sympathetic nervous activity underlies many cardiovascular diseases. Elucidating the mechanisms contributing to sympathetic nervous system output may reveal new avenues of treatment.

Inhibition of p53 and ATRX increases telomeric recombination in primary fibroblasts. [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2023
Telomere length in immortal cells can be maintained by telomerase or by alternative lengthening of telomeres (the latter being based on telomeric recombination). In normal fibroblasts, both mechanisms are inactive. Inhibition of p53 in fibroblasts increases telomeric recombination in damaged telomeres.

Bladder cancer prospective cohort study on high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer after photodynamic diagnosis-assisted transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (BRIGHT study). [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Urol, 2022
Objectives Transurethral resection of bladder tumor with photodynamic diagnosis has been reported to result in lower residual tumor and intravesical recurrence rates in non‐muscle invasive bladder cancer. We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of photodynamic diagnosis‐transurethral resection of bladder tumor combined with oral 5‐aminolevulinic acid ...

Vasoactive intestinal peptide regulates ileal goblet cell production in mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Rep, 2020
A close relationship between neuronal fibers and enteric goblet cells was demonstrated, with more neuronal fibers being in close proximity to goblet cells in vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptor antagonized ileum slices. Further, antagonizing VIP receptors ex vivo was shown to regulate goblet cell production in the ileal crypt.

Nanothermometry‐Enabled Intelligent Laser Tissue Soldering

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 16, 2023., 2023
Laser tissue soldering offers a promising route to seamless soft tissue fusion. However, poor temperature control currently prevents clinical exploitation. Intelligent solders containing fluorescent nanothermometers and thermoplasmonics offer a new route to high‐performance tissue sealing.

Local targets of T‐stellate cells in the ventral cochlear nucleus

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 530, Issue 16, Page 2820-2834, November 2022., 2022
In addition to their auditory nerve inputs, we show that T‐stellate cells within a given isofrequency lamina provide a second modulatable monosynaptic excitatory input to other T‐stellate cells as well as to inhibitory L‐ and D‐stellate cells. This circuit may play a significant role in acoustic information processing.

Contemporary techniques in human otopathology and promise for the future

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 5, Issue 1, Page 145-151, February 2020., 2020
Abstract Contemporary histopathology of the ear is based on an evolution of equipment and histological techniques over the last 500 years, including the invention of the light microscope and protocols for fixation, embedment, sectioning, and staining of tissue samples, and visual documentation of findings.

On the local stability of semidefinite relaxations

open access: yes, 2020
We consider a parametric family of quadratically constrained quadratic programs (QCQP) and their associated semidefinite programming (SDP) relaxations. Given a nominal value of the parameter at which the SDP relaxation is exact, we study conditions (and ...

THE OUTDOOR RAPID CALIBRATION TECHNIQUE AND REALIZATION OF NONMETRIC DIGITAL CAMERA BASED ON THE METHOD OF MULTI-IMAGE DLT AND RESECTION [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2016
Abstract. For non-metric CCD digital camera features and the needs of Rapid field non-metric cameras calibration, the error sources was detailed analyzed and a mathematical calibration model has been founded. Both detailed multi-image group iterative method for solving DLT coefficient, the elements of interior orientation and distortion parameters of ...
