Microsatellites for the highly invasive Cameraria ohridella (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) and their amplification in related species

A set of six polymorphic microsatellite markers was developed for the highly invasive horse chestnut leaf-mining moth, Cameraria ohridella. For 96 positive clones, six polymorphic microsatellites with conserved flanking regions were identified.

Artificial light at night (ALAN) is a stronger inhibitor of overwintering dormancy than urban warming in mosquitoes

Low intensities of warm white ALAN were a stronger inhibitor of diapause initiation than urban warming, indicating that changes in brightness or light colour may not be sufficient to mitigate ecological impacts and ALAN from common sources can extend seasonal mosquito biting activity and reproduction into late autumn.
