An improved YOLOv3‐tiny algorithm for vehicle detection in natural scenes

open access: yesIET Cyber-systems and Robotics, 2021
YOLO (You Only Look Once), as a target detection algorithm with good speed and precision, is widely used in the industry. In the process of driving, the vehicle image captured by the driving camera is detected and it extracts the license plate and the ...

Separating true range measurements from multi-path and scattering interference in commercial range cameras

open access: yes, 2011
Time-of-flight range cameras acquire a three-dimensional image of a scene simultaneously for all pixels from a single viewing location. Attempts to use range cameras for metrology applications have been hampered by the multi-path problem, which causes ...

Beyond the Camera Trap: A Systematic Review of Computing Technology Used to Monitor and Interact with (More) Varied Taxa in Zoos and Aquariums

open access: yesAnimals
Zoos and aquariums house a wide range of species, yet research remains heavily skewed toward mammals and camera-based technologies. This systematic literature review examines the use of computing technologies to monitor or interact with animals in zoos ...

Measuring straightness errors of slender shafts based on coded references and geometric constraints

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2020
The coded references and geometric constraints based method is suggested to solve the inconsistency problem of measurement range and accuracy for slender shafts. First, a slender shaft is divided into segments.

VID: Human identification through vein patterns captured from commodity depth cameras

open access: yesIET Biometrics, 2021
Herein, a human identification system for smart spaces called Vein‐ID (referred to as VID) is presented, which leverage the uniqueness of vein patterns embedded in dorsum of an individual's hand. VID extracts vein patterns using the depth information and

The gigavision camera [PDF]

open access: yes2009 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2009
We propose a new image device called gigavision camera. The main differences between a conventional and a gigavision camera are that the pixels of the gigavision camera are binary and orders of magnitude smaller. A gigavision camera can be built using standard memory chip technology, where each memory bit is designed to be light sensitive.
